Hi, I’m Annie, an independent florist setting up shop with fern + birch in 2024.

I’ve always been creative and from a young age always knew I wanted a creative career (aside from a brief period of time aged 9 when I thought I could be the first female grand national winner, despite already being taller than most jockeys).

I started my career studying an industrial design degree, followed by a masters degree in design from the Royal College of Art, and spent nearly 10 years working in the digital and user experience space as a service designer and digital strategist, a job which met a lot of my creative criteria, but I still to this day struggle to truly articulate to people.

My love of floristry was first born from my love of gardening. The joy of nurturing my seedlings and watching them grow and bloom from spring through to autumn, proudly picking and displaying the jewels I grew brought me back to my creative roots (pardon the pun).

With my love of floristry being so closely tied to reconnecting with the earth through gardening, sustainability sits at the core of my floristry work.

I’ve trained at the Covent Garden Academy of Flowers and the Tallulah Rose Flower School, with a strong ethos in naturalistic, seasonal floristry, which hopefully you’ll agree comes through in my work.

fern + birch

The name fern + birch was born from the symbolisms that both plants represent; new life and renewal, something that was really poignant for me when starting our brand, but also hopefully something meaningful and representative for all the wedding couples we work alongside in the run up to and on their big day
